Last Tuesday’s class

We had a really good class last Tuesday. I enjoyed the whole time very much.

Every kids enjoyed doing art so much. They all had different ideas to make their own collages. We went to the different tables to give them ideas and make art with them.

The free wall was really successful too. The kids and teachers all enjoyed to add their drawings in the free wall. It looked so good when we put all their works around the free wall.

Tuesday’s class

Last Tuesday’s class was one of my favorite class.

We visited William Cordova’s first solo exhibition in Boston. His works contented sculpture, installation, video ans works on paper. His works create freshly rended contexts ans historical narratives, and his candid use of reclaimed materials firmly recalls the reality of lived experience.

I really liked  Linda Price Sneddon’s works. They brought me to a magic word. I like the patterns, colors, materials, sound in her work. She did excellent job to combining then together. They gave me lots of inspirations. I really agreed with that children would like her works very much.

reflecting of last week’s class—the plan of final presentation

In this class, we organized all the pictures and videos we took this semester. After going over all the pictures and videos, I decided to talk about the function and importance of “artist statement” in final presentation. I found that I need more videos and pictures about the presentation, so I decided to take more next observation time.

In the afternoon, we visited the MFA school museum. I liked the art works in the gallery very much. During this visiting, I looked for the artist statement and wanted to know the meaning of art work. They didn’t post it out. It gave the visitors lot of imaginary space.

reflecting of last Tuesday’s class

Our group really enjoyed Tuesday’s class. We discussed with the student what to draw. She picked daffodil finally. We all like this kind of flower very much. We helped her to search information about this flower and gathering different materials for her. She wanted to try watercolor, oil pastel, color pencil.

We had a good time to draw and talk with her. Other filed-trips gave us a lot experiences about how to talk with students.

Responds to the article

I really agree with ” Audiences today are more interested in participatory events, not being just to talked to.” Museum is opened to all different kinds of people. If we get them all involved in, they will pay more interesting or attention to the museum programs.

Reflection about afternoon’s class

I really liked Tuesday afternoon’s class. It was so different from morning’s class.

Tuesday was very warm and it was so nice to go outside.  We took Casey for a walk in the park Fens. We let her to pick which way to go. She was happy with the idea and chose to walk around the little river in Fens. There were many exciting things during our trip. We saw the ducks and fed them. We were so happy to see green leaves and grass growing out. We talked about everything we saw and kept asking her questions. After a while, she became more talkative and liked us a lot.

There is obviously a big difference in terms of learning in class room and out doors. The out door environments give students more freedom and relaxing atmosphere, while the class room settings seem to be more formal. However, the students remain more focused in classroom than outside. I feel more like a mentor in the classroom, while I feel more like a friend out doors.

Plan for the 3 session

This afternoon we will l take her to Fens. We will talk with her to see what she really interested in.  We will talk about it when we come back.

Questions,

1, what kind things do interest in the nature?

2, which one do you want to pick to draw?

Next class we are going to look for a media to draw or paint it.  We will show her the materials we find for her about the subject. We might also show her some nature scientist’s work.

Questions,

1, what kind art media do you like usually?

2, For this project, which one will you like to use?

3, Do you think we can use some new medias to make art?

For third class we will work together with her. We prefer to make a mixemedia  work with her.

Questions,

1, do you like free art time?

2, do you like mixed-media art and do you want try?

We will take pictures or videos through the 3 sessions.

Reflection about Beth’filed trip

I enjoyed all the filed trips of these two classes. I have seen lots of new art works that made by different kinds of materials. I also enjoyed the discuss about the artist every time. Everyone had their own understanding about the artist and art work. We all got a lot inspirations from different trip.

I decided to make a mixed materials art work by myself after the many trips. It was very fun. I did the observation in one ofCambridge public schools and I could see that kids like to make art work by different materials too.
